I chose to put these two figures together for a reason. They are different in size, clearly. Both have rough and smooth surfaces, but the rough sides are in different places on the figures, bestowing them with different characteristics. Their color and shapes are also different from one another. With all the racial and political tensions pulsing through our nation, I wanted to show that we are essentially the same inside. Does it really matter to our ultimate survival on this planet whether we are black or white; Democrat or Republican; rich or poor; tall or short? If we have learned “something” from the past months of this pandemic it is that when we are buried six feet under, we are all exactly the same. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.
