Carved Stone After The Storm
In 2010, a particular stone found its way into my studio, seeming to have my name engraved on it. The intricate design of the stone meant that it took until 2011 for me to complete it. I had to navigate through my own personal storm before I could put the finishing touches on this piece and release it. Despite its appearance of being multiple blocks of stone pieced together, it was actually just one massive block that required cutting, grinding, chiseling, sanding, and polishing to form these exquisite and curvaceous shapes. The sense of dynamic movement captured in the sculpture was achieved by circling around the stone block and immersing myself fully in the creative moment.
